Josabi's is a live music and event center that opened in December of 2007. Josabi's sits on over seven acres of land just outside of Helotes and has a full-service bar, a private rental area, a large patio, and an outdoor stage. Josabi's launched its music platform with the Toadies in December of 2009 and is making waves with new live music artists every year. From national acts such as Blue October, Interpol, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Minus the Bear, Jordan Knight of New Kids on the Block, Matisayahu, Sunny Sweeny, Brandon Rhyder, Stoney LaRue, and Ryan Bingham to local acts such as Girl in A Coma, Vallejo, Hydra Melody, The Spazmatics, Skunkweed, and more — Josabi's is setting the pace to be your premier live music and event center.

Bloc Party & Bear Mountain 5/20 6:00PM

Fronted by vocalist and rhythm guitarist Kele Okereke, guitar-driven British rockers Bloc Party struck a major chord with Silent Alarm, a 2005 release highlighted by the danceable indie gem “Banquet” and The Smiths-inspired “Like Eating Glass.” A slight departure from the early work that earned them comparisons to post-punk pioneers Gang of Four, the quartet’s aptly titled fourth album Four shows Bloc Party rocking harder than usual after an uncertain period complicated by break-up rumors related to Okereke’s solo projects (which include his debut album The Boxer as well as dance-driven collaborations with Hercules and Love Affair and Martin Solveig). The vaguely political Londoners touch down in Helotes with support from buzz-worthy Canadian electronic outfit Bear Mountain.

The creative brainchild of guitarist Ricardo Diaz, Travesuras (Mischevious Pranks) unites flamenco artists from Malaga, Paris, New Mexico, San Francisco, and San Antonio. Featured performers include Cristo Cortes, Vicente Griego, Antonio Arrebola, and Tamara Saj. The San Antonio leg of the touring collaboration culminates Sunday with a matinee presentation of Dibujos de Travesuras (Sketches of Mischief), a series of choreographic vignettes exploring the range of emotions we encounter in daily life. Showtimes: 8:30pm and 10pm Friday at Carmens de la Calle Café; 8pm Saturday at España Bar de Tapas; 4pm Sunday at Raices de Arte Espanol Tablao.

32nd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival 5/19 1:00PM

The Guadalupe Cultural Arts Center presents the 32nd Annual Tejano Conjunto Festival at the historic Guadalupe Theater (May 15-16) and nearby Rosedale Park (May 17-19). Highlights of the festival include star-studded performances by Conjunto Music Hall of Famers Mingo Saldivar, Eva Ybarra, Flaco Jimenez, and Los Dos Gilbertos, as well as a special “New Directions in Conjunto Music” concert on Thursday night featuring Los Fabulocos (Pomona, CA), Juanito Castillo and The Psycho Trip Band (San Antonio), Thoze Guyz (Roscoe) and Los Nahuatlatos (San Antonio). Other highlights of the festival include a free Seniors Conjunto Dance, student showcase and accordion and bajo sexto workshops. 17th Annual KNBT 92.1FM Americana Music Jam 5/19 12:00PM

For almost 20 years, KNBT 92.1 FM (the nation’s leading Americana station) and Gruene Hall have co-sponsored this fundraiser that last year collected $60,000. This year, all proceeds will benefit Connections Individual and Family Services, a New Braunfels non-profit serving homeless, abused, or at-risk youth since 1981. The 2013 lineup includes Hayes Carll (“Another Like You” was American Songwriter’s number one song of 2011), Reckless Kelly, Cody Canada & The Departed, Wade Bowen, Uncle Lucius, Walt Wilkins & The Mystiqueros, Slaid Cleaves, Monty Byrom Band, Zack Walther Band, Midnight River Choir, Statesboro Revue, Dustin Welch, and acoustic sets by Jack Ingram and Sean McConnell. Twelve-ounce prophets from across the country descend on San Pedro this week for SA’s youngest aerosol art festival. After a successful inaugural edition in 2012, “Content Under Pressure” returns with 35 of the nation’s freshest graffiti artists and muralists including Chicago’s Debise CT and Bekit from New York City. Things kick off on Friday night with a gallery reception and artist meet and greet. Saturday includes a b-boy expo, artist panel, and performances by local hip-hop veterans Chisme and OBX. Live murals will be painted onsite by the FX Crew, I Wuz Here (CBS), IWS, Few and Far, and 4 Burners. Fans of the four elements should have plenty to rejoice in and enough vibrant street art to tide them over until Clogged Caps comes along.
