Texas Public Radio Cinema Tuesdays: An American in Paris
This week Texas Public Radio Cinema Tuesdays goes to France with the Oscar-winning 1951 film An American in Paris. Directed by Vincente Minnelli the film follows Jerry, an American painter struggling to find work in Paris. He is “discovered” by a wealthy patron of the arts who is interested in more than just his art. Jerry soon finds love — not with the patron, but with Lise, a beautiful French woman. Little does he know that Lise is already engaged to Henri, a cabaret performer. What unfolds is a series of romantic complications that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Starring Gene Kelly, Leslie Caron, Oscar Levant, and Nina Foch. All proceeds from Cinema Tuesdays benefit Texas Public Radio.
