Cinderella

With big hair, big dreams, and a neighborly boost from Jersey boy Jon Bon Jovi, Philadelphia-based rockers Cinderella rocketed to the top in the ’80s and — short of a brief hiatus circa 1995 —  have been active in some format ever since. After emerging with 1986’s Night Songs, a triple-platinum debut fueled by the hit “Nobody’s Fool,” the quartet (singer-songwriter Tom Keifer, bassist Eric Brittingham, guitarist Jeff LaBar, and drummer Fred Coury) moved successfully from glam-metal into blues-rock territory with their sophomore smash Long Cold Winter. Heavy rotation on MTV, relentless touring, and howling power ballads such as 1988’s “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone)” landed Cinderella in the big leagues along with kissing cousins Poison. Three albums in, vocal cord paralysis rendered Keifer unable to sing and by the time the band finally released 1994’s Still Climbing, grunge had taken over the airwaves and spandex-clad, teased and coifed “hair bands” were decidedly out. But following the release of the Mercury Records compilation Once Upon A..., Cinderella quickly rebooted, releasing Live at the Key Club in ’99 and the CD and DVD Rocked, Wired & Bluesed: The Greatest Hits in ’05.
