Rock Your Socks Off! Festival
The RYSO concept is simple, yet unusual: you donate a pair of new or used shoes at the door and get half off the ticket price. In turn, the shoes will be donated to people in need (of shoes) locally and worldwide. The third edition features Trip The Light (8 p.m.), Sugar Skull (9 p.m.), Heather Go Psycho (pictured, 10 p.m.), Cure For The Radio (11 p.m.), Last Nighters (midnight), and the Offbeats (1 a.m.). The folks from local non profit San Antonio Sneaks Up! (sasneaksup.com) will be exhibiting part of their collection of rare sneakers. I know what you’re thinking: the sound at the Korova leaves much to be desired, despite recent minor improvements. News flash: you don’t go to the Korova to hear — you go there to sweat. But there’s hope: RYSO’s next chapter will tentatively take place August 25 at the 502 Bar with Henry + The Invisibles headlining.
