Fotoseptiembre: "Somos San Antonio"

The childhood home of Carol Burnett, Elizondo’s Flower Shop, the bygone Keyhole Club, Ray’s Drive Inn, the Mariachi Connection, the Delaware Punch Factory, Segovia’s Candy Store, and a row of shotgun houses along Guadalupe Street are among the sites photographers took aim at for “Somos San Antonio,” one of Fotoseptiembre’s most locally focused exhibitions. The group show celebrates Westside structures eligible for historic landmark designation by San Antonio’s Office of Historic Preservation and opens Thursday at Villa Finale. Purchased in 1967 by King William preservation catalyst Walter Mathis, the 1870s limestone mansion is home to an extensive collection of Russian icons, Napoleon memorabilia, pewter plates, apothecary jars, German beer steins, Texas landscape paintings, and cowboy portraits.
