  • Set against the sweeping backdrop of a 26.2 mile marathon race through the historic streets of Rome, Italy, “Spirit of the Marathon II” focuses on seven inspiring individuals whose lives will forever be transformed by the experience. NCM Fathom Events and Competitor Group present this highly anticipated sequel to the 2008 award-winning documentary “Spirit of the Marathon” in select U.S. theaters on Wednesday, June 12 at 7:00 p.m. local time. Audiences will be transported to six countries for an intimate “up close and personal” look into the runners’ lives and the challenges they face on an epic journey to compete in the Rome Marathon.   The event also features inspirational interviews with marathon greats Stefano Baldini, Paula Radcliffe, Frank Shorter, Kathrine Switizer and others as they offer perspective and insight into this legendary race and its history. This one-night event will include behind-the-scenes interviews, deleted scenes and memorable outtakes from the filming of the documentary made by marathon runners and accomplished filmmakers Jon Dunham (director) and Gwendolen Twist (producer), who led a team that includes three-time Academy Award® winner Mark Jonathan Harris (executive producer) and Academy Award® nominee Megan Williams (producer).

    Known for painting “The Scream” – which recently set a public art auction record of $120 million for one of the four paintings – Munch’s exhibition has been hailed a "once-in-a-lifetime show." Hosted by the National Museum and the Munch Museum, both in Oslo, Norway, the event will feature the most ambitious presentation of Munch’s art ever featuring 220 paintings – the greatest number of Munch’s key works ever. The cinema event will take audiences through the process of putting the exhibition together as well as an in-depth biography of the man who lived from the mid-19th century through to the German occupation of Norway in World War II.

  • Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure

    The final exhibition in the "Exhibition" series, “Vermeer and Music: The Art of Love and Leisure,” features the works of Vermeer who is most popularly known as the painter of the “Girl with a Pearl Earring.” The National Gallery, London focuses on his art in relation to music in this particular exhibition. Music was one of the most popular themes of Dutch painting and revealed an enormous amount about the portrait model and the society. The event tells the entire story of Vermeer's life and, in doing so, shows in detail many of the artist's great works including how his technique and materials affected his works.
