Blue Star/Red Dot 2013 is San Antonio's most highly anticipated art sale of the year, benefiting Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum's exhibitions and educational programs. This fundraiser provides the opportunity to purchase contemporary artwork selected by collectors from around the state and supports San Antonio's premier contemporary art institution. For 23 years, Blue Star's annual Red Dot fundraiser has raised essential funding for operational support as well as exhibitions, MOSAIC educational programming, lectures and workshops. Fifty percent of the profit from art sales is re-distributed back to the participating artists in the community, making BLUE STAR/RED DOT the single largest event in San Antonio that gives back to artists through the sale of their work. Over the past 23 years, Red Dot has given back over half a million dollars to local artists.The tremendous support stays true to the mission of Blue Star Contemporary Art Museum as the first and longest-running visual contemporary art institution in San Antonio and speaks to the history and roots of the organization, continuing its tradition as an artist run institution supporting artists through programming, exhibitions, art education and events.
